Senior guard Bobby Thomas drilled a trio of three-pointers in the game's opening 3 minutes, 4 seconds and the MacArthur Boys Varsity Basketball led the rest of the way en route to a 55-49 win against Herricks on Jan. 9.

The Generals (7-2, 2-1 Conference AA-III) took a game-high 15-point lead on junior guard Andrew Mege's three-pointer late in the third quarter. Junior guard Sal Sanquini, sophomore guard Kevin Monahan, Thomas and Mege then each converted a pair of free throws in the game's final 1:16 as MacArthur withstood a late run by Herricks that saw the lead whittled to three points.

Senior forward Billy Ryan led the Generals with 14 points, followed by Thomas with 13 and Monahan with 10.

MacArthur rebounded after a 58-33 loss to three-time-defending Nassau County A champ Jericho on Jan. 6, which snapped the Generals' 11-game non-conference winning streak. The Generals play at Calhoun on Jan. 16 at 6:30 p.m. They then play host to Freeport on Jan. 20 at 7:15 p.m. in a critical league match-up. Logo
