Behind the scoring of senior Bobby Nagelberg (26.5 a game) the varsity basketball team is off to its best start in over 10 years. The Blue Dragons are currently 3-1 in League ABC III. This past week the Dragons won consecutive games over Lynbrook 88-78 and Bethpage 72-48. In the Lynbrook game junior Fred Fiore scored 14 first half points to give Division a 46-32 halftime lead. Lynbrook went on a big run in the third quarter to cut the lead to three points. With under two minutes left in the fourth quarter and Division leading by only three points senior Scott Kaiser made a big lay-up to extend the lead to five. Despite getting two early fouls in the first quarter Bobby Nagelberg finished with a game high 23 points. In Division's second win they dominated Bethpage 72-48. Stephen Switzer was a force inside scoring 12 first quarter points. Bobby Nagelberg hit five three-pointers and finished with 28 points. The Dragons will play three home games starting on Jan. 20 against Garden City starting time 6:45 p.m.
