It has not been accomplished before. The girls cross country team was able to defeat Mepham and Wantagh to claim the Class A Championship title. Mepham High School has had the title for the past four years. In addition, to being the Class A Champions, the girls qualified for the State Meet Championship. The team was lead by their senior captain, Caitlin Smith. According to Coach Bradley the team is very young and looks forward to next year's competition. "We were very fortunate to have three outstanding freshmen join our team, said Coach Bradley." The team will also be counting on their two juniors and one sophomore who did an outstanding job this year.
Not to be outshined by the girls cross country team. Christian Altamura has also made school history. Christian is the first cross country boy from MacArthur High School to qualify for the State Championship Meet as well as the Federation Meet. This is a remarkable feat for this young man.
Several college coaches have recognized what Christian has accomplished. Marist, Sacred Heart and C.W. Post are just some of the colleges that have shown an interest in this young and very talented man.
