Monument to Honor Levittown Veterans
Local veterans organizations, businesses and the Town of Hempstead joined together recently to break ground for a new monument honoring the 33 Levittown residents who lost their lives in the Vietnam, Korean and Iraq wars.

Levittown's Jesse Darcy Named Pitcher of the Year by Tampa Bay Rays
The Tampa Bay Rays organization recently announced Jesse Darcy the 2008 Pitcher of the Year for their Class A Affiliate Columbus Catfish. Darcy, 23, a Division Avenue H.S. graduate recorded a 3.05 ERA, which led Columbus and was sixth in the South Atlantic League while his 98 strikeouts were a team best.

LSWAA is accepting registration for the spring 2009 season of baseball (4-12 years), softball (6 to 12 years), kickball (3 to 4 years) and senior league (13 to 17 years) at the Alken Avenue Complex on Sundays, Sept. 28 - Nov. 16 from 9 a.m. to noon.
