When I arrived at Cantiague Park this morning, the fog was so thick that you could not see the green from the first tee. Still, there were some men on the fairway. By the time we were ready to play, the fog had lifted and visibility was good. A little later the sun came out and it was a beautiful day. A little hot in the sun, but there was a cool breeze.

Today was a Scramble tournament so there were no individual scores, just team scores. The winning team was George Hatalsky, Jerry Skaee and Dave Malle with a team score of 30. There was a three-way tie for second place with a score of 32. The second place winners were Don Gaynor, Frank Debello, Jim Greene and Vincent Nicoletti. The tiebreaker went to the third hole.

The longest drive was hit by Charles Miralile and the closest to the pin was won by either Tom or Sevald Knudsen. Stay tuned.

The next tournament will be Thursday, Aug. 21. Sign in at 7 a.m.- don't be late.

Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 13 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 14 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league. Any man who is 55 years of age is eligible.

Note: Because of the rapid growth of our club this year, we regret that we must limit our membership. The time involved to make up the foursomes and the waiting time for all the groups to finish is prohibitive. If you have already called to say that you wish to join the club, we will accept you, but after that we will have to put you on a waiting list. For more information call Lou Neumann at 681-2056.
