The Robbery Squad detectives report the details of a bank robbery that occurred on Tuesday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. in East Meadow.
According to detectives, the defendant, Ryan McCarthy, 28, of Levittown, entered the Capital One Bank located at 369 Merrick Ave. and presented a note demanding money from a teller.
After obtaining money the subject fled from the bank on foot eastbound on Warren Street. McCarthy was pursued on foot by Robbery Squad Detective Lavelle and was apprehended without incident on Gates Avenue with assistance from First Precinct Police Officers Hickman and Carroll. All proceeds of the robbery were recovered.
McCarthy is allegedly additionally connected to 14 other bank robberies committed this year in Nassau County and two in the City of Long Beach. McCarthy was charged with 14 counts of Robbery 3rd Degree, and one count of Attempted robbery 3rd Degree. He was arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Aug. 13.

Commerce Bank, 4126 Merrick Road, Massapequa on July 8 and July 31.
Commerce Bank, 145 Stewart Avenue, Bethpage on July 11.
Washington Mutual, 247-20 Jericho Turnpike, Bellerose (attempt) on July 26.
Commerce Bank, 690 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square on August 4.
Commerce Bank, 111 Mineola Avenue, Roslyn Heights on August 6.
Capital One Bank, 369 Merrick Avenue, East Meadow on August 7.
