Levittown Kiwanis will host its 12th Annual Father's Day 5K Run/Walk on Sunday June 15. The race begins at 8 a.m. in the parking lot behind Tri-County Flea Market. Awards will be given to the top three male/female runners in each designated age group. There will be refreshments for runners after the race and raffle prizes to be given out during the award ceremony. Anyone who is interested in running in the race or being a shirt sponsor can contact Kevin Regan at: 731-5016.

Terrific Kids is a program that provides schools with a tool to reward students for special achievements that may otherwise go unnoticed. Last year alone, the Levittown Kiwanis Club recognized 1,200 Terrific Kids. The club has begun scheduling the Terrific Kids Programs in each of the elementary and middle schools in the Levittown and Island Trees districts for the current school year.

The following are the Terrific Kids Programs that have been scheduled for the 2007/08 school year: Monday, April 28, 9:15 a.m. at Salk Middle School, Friday, May 2 at 9:30 a.m. at Stokes School, Wednesday, May 7 at 9:15 a.m. at Wisdom Lane Middle School, Tuesday, May 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Island Trees Middle School, Wednesday, May 14 at 9:15 a.m. at Gardiners Avenue School, Tuesday, May 20 at 1:15 p.m. at Abbey Lane School, Thursday, May 22 at 2:15 p.m. at East Broadway School, Tuesday June 3 at 2:15 p.m. at Northside School, Thursday, June 5 at 2:45 p.m. at Salk Middle School, Monday, June 9 at 9:30 a.m. at J.F. Spark School and Friday, June12 at 9:45 a.m. at Lee Road School.

Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time- locally, through Kiwanis club sponsored activities and programs and globally through the Kiwanis International Worldwide Service Project and other worldwide initiatives. Kiwanis members are service-minded men and women united in their commitment to and compassion for others.

Kiwanis International's continuing service focus is called Young Children: Priority One. This program seeks to serve the special needs of young children from prenatal development to age 5 in four areas: maternal and child health; child care and development; parent education and support; and safety programs and pediatric trauma care.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club is a very active part of our local community. Levittown Kiwanis hosts food drives, sends underprivileged children to camp, gives scholarships, sponsors community events and more. If you are interested in learning more about this philanthropic organization and the good works the club does come to a meeting. Guests are welcome to attend.
