The Wisdom Lane Wildcats had another impressive wrestling season in 2008. Their 6-1 record was the second best record in the past decade, following an undefeated campaign in 2007. The team posted impressive wins over cross town rivals Salk and Wantagh. Their only blemish came from perennial powerhouse Berner Middle School. The team was led by Ryan Coleman, Mike Berrios, and Jonathon Maldonado. All three posted undefeated records, 6-0, 7-0 and 8-0 respectively. All of Ryan Coleman's wins came by pin. The "A" mat wrestlers who suffered only one defeat were: Joe Ottati, Tom Critelli, Mike Finkelstein, Ron "Petie" Greene, and Jake Gasparri. There were many pleasant surprises found on the mat this season. Captain Felix Perez had six victories, five of which came by pin. Mike Mercado had seven victories with five pins. Tom Critelli and Joe Ottati will be joined on the "A" mat in 2009 by Dan Patton, Devon Votta, Greg Philpott, Sal Viola, and Jimmy Kirk. They all had impressive, winning records in their first year of wrestling.
