The defending County Champion Varsity Baseball Club picked right up where they left off last season with a resounding 17-0 shellacking of New Hyde Park. Dave Darcy was brilliant on the mound for the Bulldogs, tossing a 72 pitch complete game shutout. Darcy went seven innings allowing only two hits and walking three. He also had a big day with the stick going four-for-four with two RBIs. Shaun Rutherford put the game away for good in the bottom of the third when he blasted a long grand slam. Rutherford went three-for-five on the day with four RBIs. Nicky Marchelos put Island Trees ahead in the bottom of the second with a laser beam double down the left field line that drove in a pair. Paul DelGiacco, Bobby Colleluori, Frank Baglivo and Bryan Verbitsky all had multi-hit days while Eric Fazio was a catalyst all day at the top of the Bulldog line-up scoring three runs. The I.T. defense was stellar, playing error free ball to start the 2008 campaign. A web gem was turned in at the top of the third when shortstop Bobby Colleluori dived all out to his left and snared a hard grounder and then flipped it from the ground to Eric Fazio who turned a tremendous double play.

The Junior Varsity Baseball team won its first game of the season by defeating New Hyde Park 7-3. The team was led offensively by Chris Nickel who hit a home run in his first at bat of the season and Mike Fontana who had two hits and scored two runs. Mike Fontana also earned the win in relief by pitching three plus scoreless innings and allowing only one hit.

It's springtime and life in the fast lane for Island Trees Baseball kicked into full gear. The Junior Varsity B Bulldogs Baseball squad opened their inaugural campaign with an up and down match-up against Oceanside that unfortunately ended in an 11-5 loss. Casey Hastings took a tough luck decision in the game for his first loss on the season as six errors in the field led to five unearned runs. Yet the Bulldogs were encouraged by the strong start delivered by leadoff batter Brian Manning, who walked three times and stole his first base of the season. Jordan Dolgos chipped in with a hot bat going one-for-two on the day with a scorching double to right that drove in two runs. Jesse Steinman opened the season strong as well with a two-for-two day, while driving in one-run and playing solid defense at third.

The Boys' Junior Varsity Lacrosse team lost to a very tough and talented Division Blue Dragons team by the score of 12-3. Goalie Dave Grecsek made tremendous saves throughout the game, but the Bulldogs couldn't hold back the Blue Dragons relentless attack.

The Girls' Varsity Lacrosse team, led by captains Jackie Buckley, Marissa Sciacca and Kiersten Bortell, opened the season against South Side. Ali Gronenthal scored the first two team goals. Defending the goals was a combined effort by Victoria Dalla-Chiara, Maritza Mazzara and freshman Erin Carey.
