Division Avenue High School Girls Junior Varsity basketball team had an undefeated season with an impressive record of 17-0. The team opened up its season in the Syosset Invitational Tournament where they defeated Syosset and Sacred Heart to win the tournament. Christina Rea received the Most Valuable Player Award for the tournament. Freshmen guards Taylor Malings and Julie Ballantyne led the team in scoring this season. The highlight game of the season was at Southside High School where the team came from behind in the fourth quarter to pull off an impressive 39-33 victory. Julie Ballantyne had a team-high 16 and made key fouls shots in the final minutes. Forwards Kristen Stuart, Janelle Marxhausen and Nicolette McCreary dominated each game in rebounding this season while defensive specialists Brianna Greco, Molly Bauer and Kelsey Marxhausen were key contributors coming off the bench. The trifecta combination of sophomore captains Alexa Fernicola, Lindsay Jurgens and Gina Tricarico provided leadership, enthusiasm and determination to help lead the team toward success.
