Obituaries
Richard Charles Baisley formerly of Levittown died at his home in Aiken, SC at the age of 85 on Jan. 1, 2008. Mr. Baisley, served in World War II in the Navy as a ships' gunner and was decorated for his service. Surviving him is his wife Catherine and seven children. Susan from Kingston, Carol of Saugerties, Mary of New Paltz, Richard, Jr. of Aiken, SC, Thomas of Kingston, Diane of Aiken, SC and Justina of Chicago, IL. Two children preceded him in death; Kathleen and Michael. A memorial service was held at Sacred Heart Church in Esopus, NY on Jan. 19. Daniel J. Cookston of Levittown died suddenly on Jan. 9, 2008. Beloved companion of Fran Murphy. Loving son of the late Robert and Elizabeth. Dear brother of Robert R. (Jackie), Kevin G., Kelly Scudder (Lawrence) and Patricia Keller. Cherished uncle and great-uncle. Employee of Town of Hempstead. Former member of the Levittown Kiwanis Club. Member of Levittown Republican Party and Hempstead Town Hall Kiwanis Club. Wake was held at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held at St. Bernard R.C. Church in Levittown. Cremation private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the United Cerebral Palsy of New York, Inc., 280 Washington Ave., Roosevelt, NY 11575 in his memory would be appreciated.
