Retired and residing in Florida, Ex-Chief of the Levittown Fire Department Robert Peck passed away after a brief illness on Nov. 17.

A 46-year member of the Levittown Fire Department, Peck served all positions as officer in Engine Co. 7. Elected by department members as 3rd assistant chief in 1972, he advanced up to chief in 1978-79. Chief Peck served with the U.S. Navy as a Sea Bee and was an operating engineer with Local 15 in New York City. One of the fires during his term as chief was a major fire resulting in heavy damage to the upper floors of the Crescent office building at 3601 Hempstead Tpke.

He was pre-deceased by his first wife, Nora. He is survived by his second wife, Bobbi, his children Robert, Lois, Laura and Drew and several grandchildren.

On Saturday, Nov. 24, as his casket was being carried on a fire engine and passed under a flag arch in a final salute to him, the fire horns throughout the community were sounded as the fire dispatcher announced on the department radios that Ex-Chief Robert Peck had answered his final alarm.
