It has been a rough start for the Varsity Bulldogs this season. Island Trees is 0-3 with three heartbreaking losses to start the season. Each loss was by one touchdown and they occurred in the final minutes of the game. A 21-14 loss to Lynbrook started the string of hard luck. Tied at 14 midway through the fourth quarter, the Owls scored on a long run to go ahead. In the final minute, the Bulldogs were intercepted in the end zone to end the game. Week 2 was a 7-0 loss to Floral Park. With an ineffective offense and a defense that let up 300 yards, the Dawgs ended the game with a deflection of a pass just beyond our receivers reach in the end zone. Our third game vs. Wantagh was our Homecoming. Once again, it came down to the final minute of play, Wantagh 34 - Island Trees 26. This game was a battle of back and forth scoring. Island Trees had a chance to score in the final seconds, but again an interception in the end zone ended the drive.
The boys varsity golf team defeated Plainedge by the score of 7-2. Billy Donovan, Brian Beiersdorfer, Pat Reilly and A.J. Mattia all won their individual matches.
The team once again won in a close match over Wantagh by the score of 5-4. The Bulldogs put together a great round, led by a four over par 40 by Brian Beiersdorfer at Bethpage State Park.

The Lady Dawgs JV Soccer team played a great game against New Hyde Park. The girls took numerous shots on goal and played a great defense. Megan Burns and Samantha Brand both had three shots on goal, while Lisa Indelicato and Erin Carey were playing their hardest trying to get the ball up the line. The Lady Dawgs maintained a 0-0 score throughout the game and overtime and ended with a tie.
The Island Trees Football team opened their season in impressive fashion with a 27-6 victory over Great Neck South. From the opening possession, the Bulldogs were in command. After Michael Jeannetti's outstanding 50 yard touchdown was called back on a penalty, the Bulldogs offense refocused and QB Kyle Nigro threw three touchdown passes. Two of those touchdowns came on impressive downfield throws to WR Anthony Barletta, who made acrobatic catches and dragged defenders into the end zone each time. In the fourth quarter, TE Matt Bowen was able to sneak behind the Rebel's defensive backfield to catch a Nigro pass and run 25 yards untouched for the A team's final score. Chris Pascalli withstood an intense pounding on the goal line as he followed up each of these three touchdowns with successful extra point runs. On the other side of the ball, a stingy A team defense led by Tyler Byrne, John Howard, John Huller, James Lesko and Jackson Young shut down the Rebel's offense for the entire game. When it was the B team's turn to take the field, they were not about to let Great Neck South back into the game. Led by the running attack of Nick Mattia (one touchdown), Joe Blotta, Vincent Vetrone and Matt Anzalone, the Bulldogs continued to put points on the board. Defensively, the rookie-heavy squad did an outstanding job, allowing only six points and recovering three fumbles, thanks to big play tackles made by Kevin Strauss, Louis Butzgy, Keith Siebner, Brandon Cassar and A.J. Milack.
The girls 8th grade soccer team defeated Mattlin 4-0. Allie Merrill scored the first goal with an assist by Emily Lucas.
