For the first time in the history of the girls' soccer program at Division Avenue High School (DAHS), the team is comprised solely of juniors and seniors. The total years of experience that these young ladies bring to the varsity program are vast and unprecedented. This season the Lady Dragons have 10 senior players on the team.
Leading the way in goal is Sara Sullivan, considered by many to be the best keeper in the county. Moving along through the defense is stopper Courtney McDermott, a four-year veteran of the program and the backbone of a very stingy defense. Alongside Courtney at the side defender positions, you can find reliable Mary Kissane, another member of the program for four years, as well as Rose Petrofsky. Rosie is a four-year veteran who was also a member of this year's Empire State Team.
Seniors abound in the midfield at Division Avenue with All-Conference selection Samantha Foy at the helm. Strengthening the center of a very solid midfield is tireless veteran, Kathleen Davis. Playing the outside midfielders are speedsters Jen O'Neill and Briana Bollinger. All four starting middies have played soccer for four years at Division.
The two lone seniors who help on the offensive end of the field are Paige Cervantes and Kristie Ferrentino. Both girls had a hand in the scoring during a 7-0 win in the season opener against Lawrence.
This season the girls are in Conference A-111 and they have jumped out of the starting gate with a 5-0 record. The Lady Dragons have recorded four shutouts in those five games and have yielded just one lone goal. The girls are looking forward to their abundant experience to lead them into the playoffs.
