Levittown 60th Anniversary Committee Helps Community Celebrate History
This year marks the 60th anniversary of when Levittown opened to the public. Over 300 residents, mostly World War II veterans, agreed to rent Levitt homes for $60 a month. Others, with their GI Bills in hand, put a $90 down payment on a $7,990 ranch.

LSWAA Holds Awards Night, Elects New President
LSWAA held Awards Night for its baseball and softball leagues on Friday, Sept. 7, at the MacArthur High School Auditorium. The children received their trophies for an outstanding year of playing baseball or softball, sportsmanship, and for developing their athletic ability.

Levittown Central Baseball will host 2008 early bird registration through Sept. 28. Registration will be held on Sept. 25 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at American Legion Post 1711 on North Jerusalem Avenue in Levittown; 4-year-olds (instructional) - $50, T-Ball and Rookies (ages 5-7) - $75, Farms, Minors, Majors (ages 8-12) - $95, Seniors (ages 13-18) - $155. There is a $15 discount for two or more children in the league (except 4-year-olds and seniors). All new registrants must bring a copy of their birth certificate.
