  • Sports: Island Trees Baseball U12 Boys Win NTB Championship

The Island Trees Baseball U12 Boys won the NTB National League Summer Baseball Championship on Sunday, Aug. 26, at Alkin Field. The boys had a great season finishing with a 14-1-1 record. The Bulldogs faced a tough undefeated Massapequa Chiefs team in the finals. The boys came ready to play, they jumped out to an early lead with some clutch hitting and the outstanding pitching shut down the Massapequa offense. The Bulldogs' solid defense was able to hold off a last-inning rally by Massapequa and take home the win, 6 to 3. It was a great effort by all the Bulldogs throughout the summer. Thanks to the Bulldogs' parents and to NTB for an enjoyable summer of baseball. The team includes: Coach Jim Dolgos, Nickolas Alavanja, Kyle Nigro, Sabastian Papasevasytos, Michael Ahrens, Nicholas Lang, Coach Dan Mule, Thomas Kracker, and Manager Mike Alavanja.
