The LAC 12 & Under Tournament Team went undefeated in the 12U Metro New York Tournament, hosted in Levittown on July 7-8. The tournament was made up of five teams, LAC 12U, Glen Cove, HBQVB (Queens), Pelham Bay (Bronx), and Westerleigh (Staten Island).
LAC's first winning game was against HBQVB, followed by Pelham Bay. On Sunday they faced HBQVB again, it was a double elimination tournament, but by winning this game it was HBQVB's second loss and LAC won the 2007 12U Metro New York Championship. The 12U team is coached by Joe Myles, Doug Rosenthal and Mike Pelligrino. The team will now travel to New Jersey in two weeks to play in the Regional Tournament.
The LAC 10 & Under Tournament Team, coached by Kevin Grieshaber, Mike Petry and Jeff Jones played their 10 & Under Metro New York Tournament in Glen Cove this weekend, also going undefeated.
Their first game was against Merrick, followed by Glen Cove. The girls then played Pelham Bay twice, winning both games and becoming the 10U Metro New York Champions. This team will also travel to New Jersey in two weeks for the 10U Regional Tournament.
The LAC 14 & Under Team traveled to the Bronx to play against Pelham Bay for three very well played games. LAC lost the first game 6 to 3. In game #2, LAC stayed in the game by two outstanding defensive plays by Ashlee Walsh, including a diving catch. Down 1-0 in the seventh inning, Alexia Sussman scored from first base to tie the score on a triple by Taylor Tedeschi. Taylor scored the winning run on a single by Deanna Corona. Game #3 was another close game, but LAC was defeated 2-0.
All of the LAC family are extremely proud of all of our girls and wish them the best in two weeks when they travel to the Regionals.
