Levittown Kiwanis hosted its 11th Annual Father's Day 5K Run/Walk this past Sunday. Approximately 120 runners took part in the Father's Day Run which is the club's biggest fundraiser. This was a largest turnout the race has seen in recent years. Matt Hasset, a 16-year-old Bellmore resident, won the race, finishing the course with an official time of 17 minutes, 53 seconds. Julia Basco, of Bel Air, was the top female runner, finishing the race with an official time of 21:25. The first male runner from Levittown to cross the finish line was Jon Walach who finished in 20 minutes, 26 seconds. The first female runner from Levittown was Suzanne Gaddis who completed the course in 23 minutes and 55 seconds.
The race is ably coordinated each year by Kiwanians Kevin and Joann Regan.
The Levittown Kiwanis Club will be holding a membership round-up in the Panther Room at Levittown Memorial Education Center on June 28 at 6:30 p.m. in hopes of gaining new members for the service organization. At the round-up, Kiwanis members from Levittown and nearby communities will share information about the opportunities that the club provides its members. From networking and friendship, to the feeling of satisfaction that comes from doing community service and helping others, becoming a Kiwanian offers you the opportunity to give back to your community and support young people who are dedicated to helping others.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club only meets every other Thursday during July and August. The club will be meeting on July 12 and 26 and Aug. 9 and 23. Guests are welcome to attend. Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time, locally, through Kiwanis club sponsored activities and programs and globally, through the Kiwanis International Worldwide Service Project and other worldwide initiatives. Kiwanis International's continuing service focus is called "Young Children: Priority One." This program seeks to serve the special needs of young children from prenatal development to age 5 in four areas: maternal and child health; child care and development; parent education and support; and safety programs and pediatric trauma care.
The Levittown Kiwanis Club is a very active part of our local community. Levittown Kiwanis hosts food drives, sends underprivileged children to camp, gives scholarships, sponsors community events and more.
