(Editor's Note: This letter was originally sent to Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray and is being printed here at the author's request.)
I've been a resident homeowner in Levittown for the past 54 years and was so happy several years ago when Hempstead Turnpike in Levittown took on its new look with new street lights and wonderful plantings along with other improvements, such as red cement in the center dividing strips. It strengthened the image of Levittown as a garden community.
But yesterday all I saw were unkempt plantings and weeds growing. Previously there had been pretty well-kept plantings.
I beg you to return our islands on Hempstead Turnpike to something that will again make our community a place to be noticed and us proud of.
