The varsity baseball team wrapped up a great, magical season with a 2-1 victory over Clarke to complete the three-game sweep. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an amazing record of 19-1-1. They won the League Championship and secured the #1 seed in the Nassau County Championship Tournament. The story of this game was dominant pitching, backed up by solid defense. Nick Marchelos started and went four shutout innings. Nicky struck out four, while allowing three hits and walking one. He was followed up by Joe Sorisi, who went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and three walks, while striking out five. Dave Darcy picked up the win in relief. In the bottom of the seventh with the score tied at 1 and two outs, freshman sensation Bran Verbitsky scored on a throwing error by the Clarke third baseman. Frank Baglivo was able to put the ball in play to force the error and send the Bulldogs to victory.

The junior varsity Dawgs cracked four home runs en route to an 18-1 rout of the Great Neck North Blazers, completing a three-game sweep in which they scored a total of 36 runs. Ten players contributed by scoring runs. Anthony Mele continued his hot streak by launching two bombs to left, knocking in five runs. Mike Pellegrino continued his power surge with his second jack of the series, a three-run bomb which put the game out of reach in a nine run fourth inning. Anthony Ciaramitaro also launched his second homer of the series with a two-run bomb in the seventh. George Balsamo helped his own case on the mound by pounding an RBI double, and Mike Fontana came off the bench to help the cause with two RBI singles. This win helps bring the Bulldog winning streak to nine games, their overall record to 11-6 and their league record to 11-3.

The varsity softball team defeated West Hempstead 15-8. Beth Hughes and Kristine Cunningham each hit homeruns and Christina Merrill went three-for-five. Although the record may not reflect it, the varsity badminton team finished up their regular season with hard work and perseverance. Individually, several players are well on their way to post season play. Second doubles Amy Strickland and Lauren Wielgus finished with a 9-2 overall season qualifying them for the Conference IV Championship. Powerhouse two-time All County Conference IV Champs - 1st Doubles Katie Blauvelt and Brittany Guerrini finished the 2007 season with an undefeated 12 wins and zero losses. Brittany and Katie have played together since their freshman year. Their record for regular season play has been an incredible 44 wins and 9 losses. Katie and Brittany will also play in the Conference IV Championship. The girls' varsity track team had a successful day at Floral Park finishing in second place in its seven team Division Meet. Island Trees scored 101 points, behind only Clarke, which won the meet with 110 points. The high point of the day was a sweep of the 100 m. run with Samantha Cranmer, Jacqueline Kupfer and Angela Panebianco respectively, finishing in first, second and third place. All three runners ran their best times of the season in this race. Cranmer also won the 200 m. run and finished second in the long jump. Kupfer placed sixth in the 200 m. dash and Panebianco was a member of the 4 x 100 m. relay which finished in second place. Michelle Duffy won the 1500 m. run, finished second in the high jump and placed third in the 800 m. run. The team's captain, and only senior, Michelle Meyer, won the triple jump, finished fourth in the 400 m. run and took sixth place in the long jump. Other scorers for Island Trees were Carolyn Alvarez, fifth place in the 3000 m. run; Nicole Jerez, fifth place in the shot put; Megan Hollett, Katherine Malewski, Angela Panebianco and Brianna Paolino, second place in the 4 x 100 m. relay; Francis Zuniga, Carolyn Alvarez, Megan Hollett and Katherine Malewski, third place in the 4 x 400 m. relay. The eighth grade baseball team defeated Bethpage 10-2 to improve their record to 5-2. Mike Manganiello struck out 13 batters and Casey Hastings pitched two innings of shutout ball. He also hit a bases loaded triple. Chris Cutrone, Ryan Macdonald, Mike Witteck and Rob Sattler had important at bats, while Tommy Ucaner had a great day behind the plate, throwing out two runners.

The girls' lacrosse team brought home another win by defeating Bethpage 10-6. Goals were scored by Bridget Vilbig, Jessica Campisi, Liz Flagler and Erin Carey.

The boys' lacrosse team suffered a tough loss to Wisdom Lane. The boys played hard to the end, losing 11-10 with just 15 seconds left to go in the game. Goals were scored by Mike Esposito with three, Tyler Walsh with three, Nic Jorge with two and Andrew Willoughby and James Day each added one. The boys played Wisdom again and gave it their all. Joe Duthie put the team on the board with a goal. All the boys played hard.
