The varsity baseball team wrapped up a great, magical season with a 2-1 victory over Clarke to complete the three-game sweep. The Bulldogs finished the regular season with an amazing record of 19-1-1. They won the League Championship and secured the #1 seed in the Nassau County Championship Tournament. The story of this game was dominant pitching, backed up by solid defense. Nick Marchelos started and went four shutout innings. Nicky struck out four, while allowing three hits and walking one. He was followed up by Joe Sorisi, who went 2 1/3 innings, allowing one hit and three walks, while striking out five. Dave Darcy picked up the win in relief. In the bottom of the seventh with the score tied at 1 and two outs, freshman sensation Bran Verbitsky scored on a throwing error by the Clarke third baseman.
