Evelyn Grace Wernick, of Levittown, formerly of Plainview, died on April 1, 2007. A PTA Award recipient, she was a 40-year teacher's assistant in the Plainview-Old Bethpage School District. Wife of Edward. Mother of Warren, Eileen and Esther Pesantes. Grandmother of Mark and Michelle Pesantes. Sister of Virginia Kissel and Alice Gray. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Arrangements were made by Arthur F. White Funeral Home. Funeral Mass was held April 4 at St. Martin of Tours RC Church with interment following at Washington Memorial Park, Coram. John Hackett, of Levittown, died on April 2, 2007. A US Navy WWII veteran, he received the Navy and Marine Corp Medal for Heroism. He was retired from CDB Enterprises. His family was his greatest joy. Husband of Dorothy. Father of Mary Bailey (John), Elizabeth Sheridan (John), John Hackett (Nancy), James Hackett, Michael Hackett and Teresa Roets (John). Grandfather of 12. Great-grandfather of one. The family was cared for by the Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home, Hicksville Chapel. Mass at Holy Family RC Church. Interment Calverton National Cemetery.
