Levittowner Damian Maffei has made it to the final round of voting in the LiveMansion: The Movie casting call competition.

Described as an American Idol-esque competition where the public votes for the movie's cast and director, LiveMansion is the first competition of its kind in the movie industry. Spike Lee is critiquing the directors and John Leguizamo, Michael Rapaport, Cara Buono and Al Palagonia are critiquing the actors and actresses.

"The competition was broken into four rounds, and in each one the actors/directors needed to answer more specific questions and upload optional clips of their previous work," Maffei explained. "The actors would submit for a character/characters that they felt they best fit the description of."

Each role is narrowed down to three finalists from a field of 1,000 entries and Maffei is up for the role of Jack, who is described as "one of those all-American type guys who isn't afraid to fight, he just doesn't want to if he can help it."

To vote for actors, actress and directors on LiveMansion, log on to www.livemansion.com. Voting runs through April 26.

The end result for the winners is a lead role/directing gig in a movie that will be theatrically released, a SAG contract and $10,000. More importantly, Maffei says it will be a chance to be seen by audiences across the country, which is the goal of most actors/actresses.

"If I were to win, I believe I would start off by doing a jig of some sort, and then preparing in any way I can for the movie," Maffei said. "Perhaps a small celebration with the family would be in order, as it's been a tough haul from start to finish. After that, I'd see where this takes me. I'm just looking to keep working, and I think this opportunity would greatly help that."

Maffei, 29, graduated from Division Avenue High School and has lived in Levittown since he was 4 years old. While the past four months he and his wife have been living in Rochester for her to finish her final semester of college, they plan on returning to Levittown in May.

He trained at William Esper Studios in Manhattan and has several credits to his name including local and college theater as well as some independent movies.

"The most recent, 7 Couches Called Home, will be released shortly and is by far my proudest outing to date," Maffei said.

He says he completely devoted to acting, although he quipped "it has yet to pay enough for me to actually call it a 'profession.'"

"That's why this is so exciting as this contest actually could be a wonderful, wonderful opportunity for me," he added.
