According to detectives, the Solar Lane homeowner, while walking through her house, noticed that the outside front of the house was on fire at which time she evacuated the house with two other family members. The blaze began outside in front of the house in a low voltage transformer used for landscape accent lighting, detectives stated. The fire spread quickly, feeding on the vinyl siding. The residence was fully engulfed and sustained extensive damage. The fire also heavily damaged the family car parked in the driveway. No injuries were reported.

Levittown Fire Department responded, along with 120 firefighters and 15 pieces of apparatus from the Wantagh, East Meadow and Bethpage Fire Departments. The North Bellmore, Wantagh and Hicksville Fire Departments stood by at Levittown's Headquarters on Gardiners Avenue.

The fire is under investigation but is not deemed suspicious at this time.

This story was compiled with information from the Nassau County Police Department and Levittown Fire Department.
