Once again, the Levittown Kiwanis Club's Brotherhood/Sisterhood Luncheon was a big success. The event, which is in its 31st year, is designed to honor clergy and other outreach workers in Levittown and neighboring communities.

The speaker for this year's luncheon was the Very Reverend Christopher D. Hofer from St. Jude's Church in Wantagh. Reverend Hofer has been at St. Jude's since July of 2004 and has more than doubled the size of the congregation in that time.

Formerly having worked at United Way, Reverend Hofer is very familiar with all types of outreach work and the impact that service organizations such as Kiwanis have on a community. Reverend Hofer spoke about working with those who truly appreciate the little things that many of us take for granted. He also spoke about the ability that each of us has to transform the lives of others. He noted that just treating those less fortunate as individuals and with respect can make a difference.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club will be holding a membership Round-Up in the Panther Room at Levittown Memorial Education Center on Feb. 26 at 6:30 p.m. in hopes of gaining new members for the service organization. At the round-up, Kiwanis members from Levittown and nearby communities will share information about the opportunities that the club provides its members. From networking and friendship, to the feeling of satisfaction that comes from doing community service and helping others, becoming a Kiwanian offers you the opportunity to give back to your community and support young people who are dedicated to helping others.

Please come down to LMEC on Feb. 26 and learn more about the good works that this club does and how you can help. Coffee and cake will be served. If you are interested in attending the membership round-up, please call Club President Peter Ray at 735-7768 by Feb. 19.

In an effort to raise more funds to help the community, the Levittown Kiwanis Club will be hosting its first Spring Fling Craft Fair on Sunday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event will be held at Island Trees Memorial Middle School on Wantagh Avenue. Funds raised will be used to send underprivileged children from the Levittown community to camp, provide food baskets to struggling families in the community and more. Please stop by and support our community.

Vendors are also needed for this event. If you are interested or need more information, please call 579-5361 or 735-7768.

Terrific Kids is a program that provides schools with a tool to reward students for special achievements that may otherwise go unnoticed. The following are the Terrific Kids Programs that have been scheduled for the coming months Wednesday, March 7 at 9:15 a.m. at Wisdom Lane Middle School, Friday, March 9 at 1:15 p.m. at Abbey Lane School, Thursday, March 15 at 2:25 p.m. at East Broadway School, Friday, March 23 at 10 a.m. at M.F.
