The Board of Trustees of the Island Trees Public Library is currently accepting letters of application for a trustee vacancy. Service on the board will include a commitment of attendance to board meetings held once a month in the evenings and special meetings as necessary.

A trustee shall be appointed by the board to fill the vacancy until June 2007, at which time an election will be held to fill that vacancy or the term designated. At that point, the appointed trustee may run for the position.

The board is seeking a civic-minded, Island Trees resident (SD26) willing to meet the obligations as stated above. Letter should include reason for application as well as any information that indicates a specialization or talent that would assist the board in meeting the mission of Public Libraries in New York State.
