A MacArthur High School student was allegedly attacked by a group of males on Saturday, Jan. 27 at 3:29 p.m. while walking along Gardiners Avenue in Levittown, school officials confirmed.
"We have been contacted by the 8th Precinct," Assistant Superintendent Victor Longaro said, adding that the student is a Sikh. "We also spoke with the student to see if there was anything he needed or anything we could do to help him."
Longaro also confirmed that the student was in attendance at school on Monday morning, Jan. 29.
Longaro stressed this was an active investigation and could not release further details.
When asked if security was stepped up following the incident, he said it wasn't because it did not occur on school property.
Police have not released any specific details regarding the incident other than that they are still "investigating the crime."
A detective from the Nassau County Police Department's 8th Precinct refused to confirm that the victim was stabbed, however he did state, "there was an incident, it was an assault and we're still seeing what the extent of it was, how serious it was and what actually happened. At the initial part of our investigation I don't want to give out any information."
