Island Trees Board of Education Honored at Meeting
Superintendent James Parla announced, at the regular meeting of the Island Trees Board of Education on Oct. 25, that Governor George Pataki has declared the week of Oct. 23-27 to be School Board Recognition Week. This week is designated to commend school board members for their dedicated service to the children of New York State.
LI Studies Institute Exhibits 9/11 Remembrances at Hofstra University
In the days following September 11, the Long Island Studies Institute at Hofstra University began collecting materials that reflected the Long Island response to the tragedy.
Island Trees Athletics
The Island Trees Boys' Varsity Soccer team finished their league season undefeated. The league record was 7-0-5. The Bulldogs high-powered offense scored 27 goals in 12 games. Top goal scorers were John Pascale with eight goals and five assists; Stephan Barea with eight goals and three assists; Matt Brownstone with four goals and six assists; Tom Willoughby with four goals and two assists and Kevin Marksteiner added five assists. The Bulldogs defense proved to be the best in the county. The defense only allowed four goals all year. The defense was anchored with Nick O'Brien, Matt D'Albenzio, Chris Enders, Dan Carlson and Matt Cohen. Kyle Riegel had a great year in goal, leading all of Nassau County with 9 shutouts. It was truly a memorable season for players, coaches and parents.
Levittown North Baseball will be holding a registration on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hunt Road School Bus Facility in the employee lunchroom, located on Hunt Road, a half block west of Seaman's Neck Road. The lunchroom is the first white building in the parking lot. Registrations are for boys and girls from ages 4-17. Your child's age is determined by how old he or she will be on April 30, 2007. The 4-year-old games in that division are played on one weekday and Saturday. The Saturday games do not start before noon.
