Levittown Library Celebrates 55th Anniversary
While there are vast differences in the country's many places, there is one staple you would expect to find no matter where you find yourself - a library. It is quite uncommon to find a community without a library. Libraries are a central part of large urban cities and small rural towns. They serve as meeting places, landmarks, a place to preserve a community's history and, most importantly, a place where people go to expand their knowledge.
Reaffirmation Ceremony for IT Memorial Middle School Set for November 13
At 9 a.m. on Nov. 13, there will be a reaffirmation ceremony for the Island Trees Memorial Middle School. The district plans to honor veterans who gave their lives and service to our country by returning "Memorial" to the name of the school on the Monday after Veteran's Day. All are welcome to attend the program, which will be held in front of the building.
Lady Dragons Go Undefeated for Season
Division Avenue High School's junior varsity girls soccer team had an undefeated season finishing with an overall record of 12-0. This was the first time in the history of the girls soccer program that the junior varsity team recorded an undefeated season. The team was led by its two captains, sophomores Caitlin Carew and Lindsey Pariti. Caitlin led the offense for the team having a personal and team best 4 goals in a victory over Plainview JFK. Freshman Amanda Epple also led the offense in scoring this season with the help of Carly Costello, Mia LaFata, Molly Bauer, Frayba Shirgul, Crystal Sanchez and Michelle Azizi. Christie Boneillo, Melissa Luciano and Monica Harvey were the core of the team contributing to each game on both the offensive and defensive sides. The defense was led by Lindsey Pariti, Kim Daly, Danielle Clesi and Elena Voronin. Nicolette Parmese recorded four shutouts in goal this season and never gave up more than one goal per game. Congratulations to the entire team on all their hard work and dedication leading to a perfect season.
Levittown Little League will be holding registration for its 2007 season at Redwing Field on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to noon. They will also be holding registration Monday, Nov. 13 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 18 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Levittown Library meeting room A.
