It was finally a football type day. A cool crisp 60 degrees, with a little bit of wind blowing. The Red fans packed the sidelines, and you could hear the roar when the Plainview announcer called out the players names. The Red defense took the field, and expectations were high for a Midget Red victory. It took a couple of minutes for the defense to settle down but they held and stopped Plainview in its tracks. Then quarterback Robert Livotti led his offense onto the field. They moved the ball 60 yards but the drive stalled and they gave up the ball on downs. The stingy Red defense would not allow their opponents to cross the goal line. Big stops were made to get the ball back in the hands of the Red machine. The Red offense grounded out yardage the entire drive. Shake and bake runs by John Pascalli and John Harris kept Red moving forward. Dylan Thomas who had an outstanding day was sometimes carrying two or three defenders on his back before being tackled. Red's three-yard and a cloud of dust offense brought all the defenders in tight. This allowed Red to open it up for Air Thomas. Thomas on a hal back option let the ball fly connecting with Joey Tracey for a 50-yard touchdown reception. This would be one of two that the pair would have on the day. The third touchdown was on a reverse to the split end, PJ DeMartino. PJ on the end around took it 50 yards for a touchdown. All three extra points were pounded into the end zone by Dylan Thomas. Thomas also had an interception to stop a Plainview drive.
Enough cannot be said about how the Red tenacious defense played. When backed into a corner they came up big with their "never say die" attitude. The linemen on both sides of the ball were outstanding. Nothing will go right unless they do their thing and play like one unit. They are often overlooked but are the heart of the team.
The players all worked hard and gave 100 percent. They are Cody D'Amato, Corey Gambarro, Kenny Holt, Andrew Lopez, Joey McNamara, Stephen Nevins, Sal Randazzo, Anthony Saracino, James Schaefer, James Avery, Calvin Fabre, and Zack Tumbarello.
