In response to the letter from Jim Johnston who wrote that his wife Carol Johnston resigned with only 16 months left, I say finally! The only thing Carol succeeded to do in her time in the commissioner's office, is to prove to the people that feel a woman can't do a man's job, that in fact, this woman could not do a man's job. Carol has now ruined any chance another woman has of ever being voted into this position, even if that woman could handle the job with proficiency. Jim states that the "chiefs and commissioners made doing her job extremely difficult." It would be a stretch of the imagination to say that she even tried to do her job adequately. It's obvious that after three and a half years, Carol has proven that she probably never wanted to be a fire commissioner at all, but rather tried to serve as a mouthpiece for Jim's thoughts and ideas. I personally am glad Carol is out of the commissioner's office; she was a huge embarrassment to all of us women!

Jim Johnston states that he will use this publication to assist in educating the public; what Jim does not state in his letter is that he is a huge pot stirrer. Now he is going to the Tribune to air all of his foolish and misleading gripes. I do hope that the Tribune will think twice before printing his ridiculous letters. Jim has sour grapes for the Wantagh Fire Department and is using your paper to air them; shame on him and on you if you allow him to do this.
