After the Red Devils annual parade through the streets of Levittown, and a fun-filled afternoon and evening of rides, games and delicious foods, it was time to get down to the business at hand, Midget Red Football.

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon, maybe a little too warm, but the conditions were perfect to play. The field was a plush-looking green carpet with Red Devil highlights painted mid-field and in the end zones. The huge opening day crowd of parents and friends packed the stands and there was a sense of excitement and nervousness in the air. No one knew what to expect. As Reds took their places on the field to receive the opening kick-off, they looked ready to rock and roll. Starting at their own 40-yard line the offense lead by QB Robert Livoti started to march down the field. Compiling one first down after another, running backs Dylan Thomas and John Pascalli set up a beautiful sweep around the right side for Alex Cohen to make a dazzling 35-yard TD run, one of two on the day for the gifted back. The extra point was run in by Dylan Thomas who would do that three more times. John Pascalli had an exciting TD run slashing his way into the end zone running against the grain avoiding several Oyster Bay tacklers. Rob Livoti had the fourth TD powering his way into the end zone from the 1-yard line. Enough cannot be said about th offensive line and ends. Without them controlling and dominating the middle of the field, they can't be successful. They are Anthony Saracino, Kenny Holt, John Hein, Corey Gambaro, Zach Tumbarello, Andrew Lopez, Chris Meyer and Joseph Tracey.

The stingy defense was exceptional. They were tenacious and made stop after stop to get the offense the ball back. They are Cody D'Amato, Paul Demartino, Robert Geyer, Joey McNamara, Stephen Nevins, Brodie Nuzzi, Sal Randazzo, James Saladino and James Schaefer. When Red went up by 18 points, the Oyster Bay coach pulled out four of the players for outstanding play to even the competition. They were Dylan Thomas, Alex Cohen, Rob Livoti and Joe Tracey. As always the cheerleaders were great and added spirit to the game. All the players gave 100 percent and had a blast doing it. It was a great way to start the season.

Please come down this Sunday at 3 p.m. and cheer the Red Devils on as they play North Babylon. They are always tough competition and your support helps. Come down and catch the Midget Red excitement, you are guaranteed a good time. a good time.
