The Eighth Squad reported details of an occupied residence robbery that occurred in Levittown early Wednesday morning, Sept. 6.
According to detectives, at approximately 2:15 a.m., three males wearing gloves and ski masks broke down the rear door and entered the Jerusalem Avenue residence. Upon hearing the disturbance, a 23-year-old male and occupant of the house confronted the subjects, police stated. Allegedly, one subject was holding a handgun and another subject was armed with a crowbar. Detectives reported that a verbal exchange escalated into a physical confrontation and the 23-year-old male was struck several times in the head with the crowbar. He suffered multiple lacerations to his forehead and scalp. As the victim called for help, one of the suspects removed an unknown amount of cash from a dresser drawer where the victim left his money, police stated. The suspected then left the house.
As of press time, one male subject was in custody, according to police. The male victim who suffered the lacerations to his head was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released. According to police, at the time of the incident three other males and one female occupied the house. None of the other residents reported any injuries.
Police reported that the handgun used in this crime was recovered and it was actually a BB gun. A search for the other suspects was conducted for several hours by Eighth Precinct Police Officers, members of the K-9 unit and Aviation Bureau with negative results. The investigation is active and ongoing.
