Russell Sohlberg died July 27, 2006 at the age of 82, in NYC. An active actor, dancer, and performer, he was deeply loved by many, especially in NYC's downtown performance, modern dance, and theater communities. Mr. Sohlberg studied with luminaries such as Doris Humphrey, Jose Limon, Martha Graham, and Louis Horst, and danced with choreographers Pina Bausch, Donna Uchizono, Nathaniel Buckley, Coyote Dancers, Margarita Guergue, Anne Hammel, Wendy Perron, Stephanie Nelson and Mary Seidman, to name a few. He was also a member of Equity and SAG.

Following retirement from life as a technical appraiser for what is now United Technologies, he was active in the film and arts communities through his later years, continuing to perform in work up to the time of his death. Mr. Sohlberg will be remembered as a man of good heart, a storyteller who loved to weave a good tale, an energetic jack-of-all-trades capable of constructing a wall or sewing his own costumes, and most of all, a best friend, father, and brother.
Known as Eric Russell in the arts community, Mr. Sohlberg was born in Schenectady, NY on March 24, 1924, to Eric G. and Margaret T. Sohlberg. He was a graduate of the University of Chicago and a WWII veteran. His wife, Arlene, predeceased him. Mr. Sohlberg is survived by his two brothers, Eric and Karl, and son, Gregory.
