Congratulations to the Levittown North Baseball Associations 9-year-old North Star Team on winning the NYS Championship. They will now head to Pennsington, New Jersey to vie for the Mid Atlantic Regional Championship against teams from five other states.

Coaches Joe McLaughlin, Mike Pappas and Timmy Quinn led the team. The team has been practicing since early January 2006 at the Island Garden in West Hempstead. This is their second tournament championship in less than three weeks, as they also won the NTB 9-year-old tournament hosted by LSW.

The team had to win two games back to back on Sunday to cap off the title against two undefeated teams, El Caribe of the Bronx and the always tough LSW team.

After the game, The Babe Ruth Tournament Directors then presented individual awards to team members.

MVP of the Championship Game was Nick Galluzzi. Best Tournament Pitcher was Eric Pappas. MVP was Thomas Melendez. Not mentioned but who really contributed to the cause was Jesse Natale with his fantastic defense, Anthony Notarstefano with his super pitching, James RBI at game Schaefer, Kieran McLaughlin who hit the cover off the ball and field flawlessly at six positions, Josh Oventhal who had a huge RBI hit and nice of catch versus El Caribe to save the game. Lanier Macapobre who threw four strong innings in the championship game and Brian Quinn who hit over 500 for the tournament.

The team would not be complete without mentioning Gerard DelGrosso who missed the last weekend because of sickness.
