In the parking lot of Target at 3850 Hempstead Tpke. in Levittown, the store will be hosting a National Night Out Event on Aug. 1 from 6 to 9 p.m. Target is sponsoring this event in partnership with the 8th Precinct Problem Oriented Policing Division. Confirmed speakers include Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, Nassau County Town Legislator Edward Mangano and Town of Hempstead Councilman Gary Hudes. The Levittown Community Council and Yours Ours Mine Community will be present and Bob Koenig will be performing his Levittown song as well.
Awareness tables such as a police horse unit, K-9 unit, BATs program (Bicycle Anti-Theft Program), Roll Over (a crash vehicle with crash dummy that shows why we should use seatbelts), the Levittown Explorers, fingerprinting by the Explorers and home kits, MADD, American Women Self Defense Association (helping rape victims), American Red Cross (crime and drug prevention), Crime Stoppers, National Crime Prevention Council, National Association of Mothers (trouble youths), Levittown Fire Department (arson safety and fire ladder demonstration), Levittown EMS (CPR training and basic first aid), Nassau County Correctional Facility (scared straight program), local karate school (self-defense demonstration).
Target will provide a DJ, karaoke, barbecue, Target brand giveaways, video of sting trailer, forensic lab, safeness video and face painting.
