The Levittown Kiwanis Club has awarded scholarships to one key club member from each of the four local high schools. Three of the four recent graduates attended the July 13 meeting of the Levittown Kiwanis Club and spoke about some of their favorite key club projects from the past year. Tina Vanderburg told the Kiwanians that among the many projects that the MacArthur High School Key Club participated in was a fashion show the club held to raise money for breast cancer research. The MacArthur Key Club raised $500 from that event alone. Alyssa Dorka noted that the Division Avenue High School Key Club spent quite a bit of time with students from the local elementary schools, working as mentors for the children. Lisa Baroca said that the Island Trees High School Key Club took part in many Walk-A-Thons as well as a Kick AIDS Out of Kenya event but that her favorite project was a Halloween Safety program that the key clubbers ran at the Island Trees Elementary Schools. The Levittown Kiwanis Club was extremely proud to present the scholarships to these deserving high school graduates. The Levittown Kiwanis Club only meets every other week during July and August. Levittown Kiwanis hosts food drives, sends underprivileged children to camp, gives scholarships, sponsors community events and more.
