Island Trees Board Members Sworn In
On July 5 at the Reorganization Meeting of the Island Trees Board of Education, Joseph Buda and Christine Holt, who were elected to board seats this past May, were officially sworn in to begin their terms as board members. David Rubin, attorney for the board, administered the oath of office. They were elected for three-year terms.

Levittown School Board Positions Shuffled Around
The Levittown Board of Education got together for their first meeting of the summer on Wednesday, July 5 at Levittown Memorial Education Center. There were no presentations of any sort by students or faculty, as is the norm during the school year, but two rather large pieces of business were attended to during the evening.

Kara Darcey Named to All-State Softball Team
Recent Division Avenue High School graduate, Kara Darcey, has been named to the 2006 All-State Softball team by the New York State Sportswriters and Coaches Organization for Girls Sports. She will continue her education at East Stroudsburg University in Pennsylvania, where she has been accepted into the Elementary Education program. Kara has also signed to play softball at the Division II University.

LSA Opens 51st Swim Season
On Sunday, July 9, the Levittown Swimming Association (LSA) opened its 51st season with its Relay Carnival Meet at the Jerusalem Avenue pool in Levittown. The meet is the traditional opening of the LSA summer season. Relay Carnival is a fun meet which features only relay races for boys and girls (ages 7 to 18). The meet encompasses 26 races for boys and 26 races for girls in the various strokes (free, back, breast and fly) with most having several heats, bringing the total number of races to 150+.
