The Nassau Sheriffs Department Emerald Society is taking on the NY Fire Department in a softball game on June 24 to raise funds for their charity of choice. The Sheriffs are playing for Kayla Aquilina of Levittown, a child suffering with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis. Kayla and her family have already raised almost $3,000 in the fight for a cure and hope this fundraiser will bring them far past Kayla's $5,000 goal.
The firefighters are playing for the Thomas R. Elsasser Fund to support the families of NYC firefighters who died non-line of duty as active members of the FDNY.
The fundraising game is on Saturday, June 24 at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, Field D, and parking lot number 4. The game, raffles and fun will be from 1 to 4 p.m. There is a $5 admission fee.
