Levittown resident Kyle Sabo, 26, a history teacher at a Division Avenue High School arrested on rape charges June 22, 2005 was sentenced by a Nassau County judge on June 9.

According to Eric Phillips, a spokesperson for Nassau County District Attorney's office, the defendant was given no plea bargain and plead guilty to four class E felonies including Criminal Sexual Act, Sodomy, Rape and Endangering the Welfare of a child. His sentence included six months incarceration and 10 years probation.

"In addition to the sentence he will receive, he agreed never to teach, to surrender his teaching licenses and not to seek reinstatement," Phillips added.

Sabo must also register as a sex offender and orders of protection will be issued for the complainants.

Sabo pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead last June.

According to police, at various times and in separate incidents between April 2003 and June 2004, Sabo is accused of engaging in improper sexual activity with two students of the school, a male and a female.

A 1998 DAHS graduate, Sabo began working at the school in September 2002 and quickly became involved in a variety of school activities.

A school official said the district was made aware of the allegations involving a junior and senior student on June 15, 2005. Immediately following Sabo's arrest a week later, the Levittown School District issued a statement that the district received "information regarding alleged inappropriate contact between a teacher and several students. The district took immediate action including notifying the police, removing the teacher from school pending completion of an investigation, an investigation into the allegations and interviewing several students."

Two attempts to contact administrative offices in the Levittown School District for comment were unsuccessful.
