Congratulations to the Island Trees Track team who had eight All County runners on Wednesday. The boys' 4 x 1 team of Julio Fuentes, Joe Ambrosio, Don Ascoli and Carmelo Torres took third. The girls' 4x1 team of Sam Cranmer, Kristen Walsh, Michelle Meyer and Angela Panebianco also took third. Sam was also All County in the 100 meters and 200 meters.

The eighth grade baseball team defeated Salk by the score of 8-4. Dan Bartlett pitched five strong innings, allowing just two earned runs, while striking out seven. Dan also went one-for-two with an RBI. Chris Nickel's three-run homerun and Bryan Verbitsky's solo homerun helped keep the game out of reach. Also contributing with hits were Bryan Peterson, Cody Abramson and Brandon Garcia. The eighth grade team then won its fourth straight game by defeating Hicksville by the score of 8-1. Bryan Verbitsky pitched a gem, allowing just one run on two hits with 11 strikeouts in four innings of work. George Balsamo pitched the final three innings, striking out eight batters. Offensively, lead-off batter Cody Abramson led the way, scoring three runs and stealing four bases. Chris Nickel belted his second homerun of the season and Bryan Verbitsky hit a triple.

The seventh grade baseball team won big by defeating Plainview by the score of 12-0. Ryan Macdonald pitched a masterpiece, throwing a no-hitter while striking out 6. Ryan got some help from his defense with web gem nominees by Frank LaLima and Mike Manganiello. Providing the offense for the Bulldogs was Joe Zelaskowski with three RBI's, Mike Manganiello with a big triple and three RBIs. Finally, Jawad Tassawer put the game away with a monstrous double with a man on third.

The eighth grade softball team lost to a strong Woodland team. Dana Colleluori and Christine Sportiello did their best to keep the team in the game with their pitching. Great defensive plays were made by Jessica Beissel, Samantha Wierzbicki, Dina Cooper, Anne Badolato and Samantha Buda. Sylvana Rivera and Gina Lyons led the offensive attack with a hit apiece.
