Divisions Baseball Team opened up their series with Jericho, with an 8-inning 1-0 victory. This win clinched first place for Division and guaranteed them double elimination for the County Baseball Tournament.
This is Division's 24th league title since 1979. Division senior lefty Anthony Quatrano was the winning pitcher going the distance scattering 4 hits, walking only 1 batter, while striking out 10 batters.
Pat Carroll, Nick Buccello, Travis Ratliff, and Joe Liverani all played stellar defense for the Dragons.
In the bottom of the 8th inning Chris Sanabria led off with a pinch hit double. Joe Liverani, Ryan Harold walked to load the bases for senior Chris Bauer who blasted a long single over the centerfielder's head to ice the game for Division.
In game 2, Division beat Jericho 5-2, as Travis Ratliff and Chris Sanabria split the pitching up for Division.
Brian Grubb paced the Division attack with three hits, and Chris Bauer chipped in with an RBI triple.
Third baseman Sean Connochie played a spectacular third baseman for the Dragons.
After several rainouts Division finally got to play Jericho in the final game of the series. Sophmore pitcher Paul Bischoff got the win in his first start, as Pat Carroll and Ryan Harold chipped in with an inning of relief as tune-up work.
Division was led by Nick Buccvello who had 2 hits, 2 runs scored and an RBI. Joe Liverani added 2 RBIs while sophmore Brian Grubb chipped in with 2 hits, and he also provided some excellent defense at shortstop.
This win, coupled with a surprising Seaford loss to West Hempstead, gave Division the #3 seed in the county baseball tournament.
