The Lady Dragons took on conference foe Floral Park Knights recently. Floral Park came in with the best record in the conference at 6-0 while the Lady Dragons stood at 4-1 in conference play. Christine Davis pitched a pretty darn good game but the Lady Dragons had a hard time trying to scratch out some runs against one of the best pitcher's in the conference. They scored in the last two innings with Tara Lanigan coming up with another clutch hit in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Dragons came up short in a 4-3 loss.
Next up was Lynbrook. The Lady Dragons were looking forward to this game considering last season they lost with a no-hit shutout. They showed up to the field wanting to prove it was luck and did, with an 8-0 victory. Tara Lanigan pitched marvelously, she had a two hitter going into the seventh inning. This ninth-grader has a bright future with Division. Jessica Constantine, the lead off hitter, continues to set the table for her fellow teammates, going three-for-four and scoring two runs. Tara McBride and younger sister Brittany had some key hits to aid in the win. Janine Landini continues to stay with a hot bat as well. Kara Darcey drew three walks and Tara Lanigan had clutch hits with runners in scoring position and ended the day three-for-four.
The Lady Dragons took on their cross-town rivals the Island Trees Bulldogs and came out swinging. In the third inning they, together as a team, battled in five runs to take a 5-0 lead. Every batter had at least one hit each that included: Tara Lanigan, Janine Landini, Shannon Angher, Jessica Constantine, Tara and Brittany McBride and Maggie McNamara. Christine Davis was excellent on the mound with seven scattered hits, struck out 6 and walked one. Kara Darcey went two-for-three with a two-run homer, two RBIs and two runs. The whole team was on their game both offensively and defensively in this 9-1 victory. The Lady Dragons are 6-2 in Conference II play.
