Levittown, Island Trees School Budgets Pass
The Levittown Board of Education adopted the proposed budget of $157.5 million for the 2006-07 school year, representing a 3.9 percent increase over last year's budget. The tax levy increase over 2006-07 is 3.96 percent. Levittown residents passed this budget in a 2,205 to 2,010 vote. Current Levittown Board of Education President James Moran and Trustee Michael D. Moriarity ran unopposed for re-election.

Island Trees Athletics
The boys varsity baseball club took one on the chin with a tough loss to Glen Cove by the score of 7-3. Defensive miscues and bad breaks were the story in this game. With the Bulldogs trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the fourth, Matt Acton singled with two outs. Justin Muscarella then followed with a two-run homer to tie the score. However, the Bulldogs gave it right back in the top of the fifth by surrendering five runs of which three were earned. Island Trees scored in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single by Dave Darcy. Matt Gelormino pitched great in relief, keeping the Bulldogs in the game. He went two and two-third innings allowing no hits and one walk while striking out two.

Lady Dragons Defeat Cross-town Rivals Island Trees
The Lady Dragons took on conference foe Floral Park Knights recently. Floral Park came in with the best record in the conference at 6-0 while the Lady Dragons stood at 4-1 in conference play. Christine Davis pitched a pretty darn good game but the Lady Dragons had a hard time trying to scratch out some runs against one of the best pitcher's in the conference. They scored in the last two innings with Tara Lanigan coming up with another clutch hit in the bottom of the seventh, but the Lady Dragons came up short in a 4-3 loss.
