The Lady Dragons took on the Bethpage Eagles this past Friday. In their first league game, the girls were victorious scoring nine runs in a 9-4 win. Kara Darcey went three for four with two doubles and two RBIs. Janine Landini had a nice game also, she knocked in three RBIs. Third basemen Shannon Angher had two hard-hit doubles in her four at bats.
In their next contest the Lady Dragons took on Plainedge Red Devils. In this league game, the Lady Dragons had some big hits. In their first at-bat the girls scored three times to get off to a quick start with big hits coming from Kara Darcey, who hit a booming shot to right center, followed by Christine Vermilye, who matched Darcey's shot to the same spot into right center for a home run. Lauren Nelson followed her senior teammates with her own major league shot to center field that had home run written all over it.
Christine Davis pitched another fine game allowing only one run to cross the plate in this contest. Miss Davis had a little more on the line in this game with her father being a teacher and coach at Plainedge. Pressure? No problem, she and her teammates handled the situation fine. The Lady Dragons produced a complete game victory of 7-1. One big play that stood out in this game was the triple play the Lady Dragons' infield pulled off in the fifth inning. It was simply outstanding. These flying fire-breathing Dragons currently stand with an overall record of 7-1.
