(Editor's note: This letter was originally sent to Inspector Rick Capece of the First Precinct and is being printed here at the author's request.)
On April 5, the East Meadow Civic Association held a meeting regarding conditions at Jessica's Lounge at 346 Newbridge Road, and a follow-up meeting regarding conditions on Lloyd Court in East Meadow.
Lieutenant Joseph Barbieri attended, along with Police Officers Ken Murray and John Belillo. They did an outstanding job in responding to community problems and were all very well received by our membership. They informed the residents of the actions that had already taken with the assistance of the Town of Hempstead in response to our complaints, which impressed everyone with the promptness and diligence of the First Precinct and Town of Hempstead. Further, they demonstrated great knowledge of the problems and explained how they would continue to coordinate their law enforcement efforts with Supervisor Kate Murray, Councilman Gary Hudes, Legislator Norma Gonsalves and the Nassau County Fire Marshal's office until the matter is resolved.
Councilman Gary Hudes gave a detailed report of his and Supervisor Murray's efforts in this case, and commended the excellent cooperation between the town and First Precinct in working to resolve community complaints.
Lieutenant Barbieri is an excellent choice as administrative lieutenant, and he will fit in well with the precinct's executive staff. He is obviously an expert in the field of law enforcement. Please extend our gratitude to Lieutenant Barbieri and Officers Murray and Belillo on a job well done.
