There are two candidates running for one position on the Levittown Public Library Board of Trustees. This five-year trustee position has been vacated by Dennis Conway. The library budget vote and trustee election will be held Tuesday, April 4, between noon and 9 p.m., in the Levittown Library Community Room.

The candidates are Stewart McKinney and Richard Santer, Jr. Last week's article did not include that Richard Santer, Jr. is the son of longtime Levittown Library trustee Margaret Santer and his wife, Lisa, is a full-time Levittown Library employee and president of the library's CSEA unit. Regarding this information, Richard offered the following statement:

"My position opposing the library's current multi-phase renovation and its use of the budget's fund balance is not shared by my wife or my mother. As the record shows, my mother voted for the current budget, which uses the remaining $250,000 of the fund balance to pay for half of Phase I. She also voted for Proposition 3 asking the community to fund an additional $250,000 for the plan. I believe the current plan is extravagant and should be scaled back to accomplish the functional improvements at a significantly reduced cost to the Levittown taxpayer."
