The Boys' JV Basketball team finished the season with an astounding record of 12-0 in the league and 16-1 overall. The boys combined a solid defense that consistently held teams under 50 points with an unstoppable offense that averaged 65 points per game. The group had a team chemistry rarely found at the JV level.
In the first game of the year, the Bulldogs were down 16 points at half time vs. Plainedge. They came out in the second half and made an incredible run to get the win. There was no turning back from that point on. Their only loss came to MacArthur in the Levittown Tournament. With the game tied at 53, a foul was called with one second left that sent MacArthur to the line. After missing the first shot, they made the second one to get the win. The Bulldogs, however, went on to win the rest of their games. The last major hurdle was defeating Jericho for the second time in a game that came down to the final seconds.
The team had a nice mix of sophomores and freshmen who all made contributions throughout the season. They were a group of selfless players all striving toward the same goal, which is the major reason they were so successful.
The team consisted of sophomores Frank Baglivo, Ron Modik, Justin Heisig, Shawn Fenton, Eric O'Reilly, Bryan Valinoti, John Bruno and Jesse Matarese. The freshmen included Ryan Tolan, John Howard, John Thearle, Dan Schulz, Tom Hart, Andy Kahl and Dylan Caragher.
As long as this group continues to work and is committed to getting better, they will have a bright future.
