The Island Trees Wrestling team finished the season by claiming the qualifying tournament at Levittown Division. The Bulldogs outpaced Long Beach 377-371. The team placed 22 wrestlers in the tournament. The Bulldogs placed 14 wrestlers in the top four in the tournament. Wrestlers who placed 1-4 qualified for the County Tournament. The team crowned six individual champions. At 103 lbs. freshman Matt Eberlein recorded a pin to win his first league title. At 112 lbs. Bryan Henriques used an overhead cradle to secure his championship. At 135 lbs. senior Dan Eberlein defeated Zach Astone of Long Beach 8-4. At 152 lbs. Chris Coradini used a second period takedown to take a 3-1 lead on the way to his first league title. Senior Joe Ambrosio used a takedown in overtime to defeat Mike Scheid 9-7.The tournament was won for a fourth straight time by senior Joe Cusker. Joe became the first wrestler in the last 20 years to win four league championships at Island Trees. Joe captured the 96 lbs. title as a freshman, 103 lbs. as a sophomore and junior and the 119 lbs. class as a senior. Other wrestlers qualifying for the County Tournament were Ralph Mirabella 96 lbs.), Tom Santamauro (119 lbs.), Julio Fuentes (145 lbs.), Chris Buhagiar (171 lbs.) Scott Smath (189 lbs.), Ever Reyes (189 lbs.) Billy Caldarera (215 lbs.) and Joe Dias (215 lbs.).
