Congratulations to the volunteer firefighters of the Levittown school district who were able to successfully get the Levittown Board of Education to agree to give them a 10 percent tax deduction on their school taxes. As the daughter of a retired volunteer firefighter, I am grateful for the service that you all provide to our community.

I, too, am a volunteer to several different community organizations-Salk/MacArthur PTSA, East Broadway PTA and Levittown Council of PTAs - and at times it can be challenging to justify the time spent away from my family. But the satisfaction I get from being involved with the education, health and safety of our district families and the future of our children makes it worth my effort.

Thank you to all of the volunteer firefighters for paving the way for all of the volunteer organizations in our school district to ask for the same 10 percent tax deduction.
